Neighbourhood Watch (NHW)

Although we have three active Neighbourhood Watches, two in Weston and one in Awliscombe, these only cover about 30 properties (we have over 200 in the Parish). Countrywide NHW is seen to be an effective method of crime prevention and it helps contribute to lower crime figures. We should not be complacent. In to-days economic climate rural communities may be perceived as ‘soft targets’.  Neighbourhood Watch is not peering from behind curtains or making patrols, it’s all about talking to your neighbours to ensure they are become aware of local police concerns. Each ‘Watch’ has a co-ordinator who receives a Community Message. They pass this information to watch members.

Community Messaging

Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinators are advised of local activities from Devon & Cornwall Police through Community Messages. You can register to have Community Messages sent direct to your telephone or e-mail address. Click here for an on-line registration form.
